The National Finals Rodeo Closes Out the Year in the Biggest and Loudest Way

The National Finals Rodeo is a victory lap of the rodeo subculture. Every year in December, the NFR unleashes the best in rodeo for the year. Newcomers and seasoned experts bring their best to the final game in pursuit of the most revered belt in the industry. Fans from all over the country come together to see who is getting to escape with the gold belt.

There is an ‘all around the world’ winner, who receives the gold belt for best all around. Yet, fans can also witness rodeo masters get out there and come after some of the specialty prizes. These include the team roping challenge, where two get together to delicately (and sometimes dangerously) hook as fast and as efficiently as possible. Barrel racing is also in the line-up for 2015, and fans can see some of the most ridiculous rodeo fans get out there and roll across the field at dizzying speeds.

The main attraction is the bull riding. JW Harris’ victory in 2014 was hotly speculated, and he came away with one of the most notorious wins in NFR history. Between events, fans can run through the Cowboy Christmas Gift Show. The over 300,000 square feet of special gifts and eccentric oddities will take a whole day to explore. A shuttle bus runs between the Cowboy Christmas vendors and the main convention center throughout all hours of the event. The bus is completely free for those who have a ticket (most will get an entrance wristband). The shuttle will also ride to the Cowboy Marketplace Gift center. This is a slightly newer addition to NFR, and is the sister vendor grounds to the main Gift Show. Both are worth visiting, as they gather rodeo equipment, merchandise, and general weird one-of-a-kind items such as NFR spurs, saddles, and art.

It is possible to buy from a reliable nfr tickets company for certain days. The event runs from December 3rd to December 10th. There are select tickets available for December 11th and 12th, but many of the vendors are not expected to stay the duration of the event. Most of the big events and buzz will conclude on the 10th. The last two days are discounted appropriately.
