Lift Up Atlanta Provides Services To Fill Assistance Gap For The City’s Homeless

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Norcross, GA)—According to statistical data published by the U.S. Census Bureau, it is estimated that more than 10,00 people in the city of Atlanta are homeless on any given night, with more than 6,000 of those people being chronically homeless and living on the streets. Unfortunately, women and children make up at least 40 percent of the homeless population in the city.

It is with these statistics in mind that Lift Up Atlanta is shedding light on the services they offer to the homeless population in Atlanta. The organization has a strong mission to provide homeless women and children in the metro Atlanta area with safe housing, food, clothing and other services designed to help them meet their basic needs, to support their education, and to empower them to reach self-sufficiency. Rosalind Garner, the woman who founded the organization in 2011, stated “At Lift Up Atlanta, work with the homeless shelters in the Atlanta area, other non-profit organizations, and the homeless directly by serving dinners and providing basic needs such as daily use items and blessing bags which include hygiene items and snacks. In addition, we seek to help families get back on their feet by providing job readiness and self-empowerment programs, recreational programs for children, and seasonal projects. We have ongoing food and clothing drives and so much more to serve the homeless population in Atlanta.”

Garner goes on to say, “There is no way that we could do what we do without the help of many volunteers and sponsors. We are grateful for the sponsorship of our printing company which helps us accomplish things like providing thousands of free lunches to needy children and hundreds of new backpacks, school supplies, hair services, and Christmas toys every year. Lift Up Atlanta is always looking for volunteers, and we welcome all volunteers and sponsors who are able to contribute.”

“In filling assistance gaps for homeless women and children in the Atlanta area, our ultimate goal is to empower them to be the best they can be. This, in turn, helps lift up our city and benefits all who call Atlanta home.”
